ABOUT ME

Professor Isaac Ayodeji Odun-Ayo is a Nigerian scholar, retired Air Force officer, and academic leader from Ekiti State. He began his education in Zaria and later joined the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1980. Commissioned as a Pilot Officer in 1983, he received extensive engineering and avionics training. He later earned a Diploma, BSc, MSc, and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Benin. Throughout his military career, he served in key technical, administrative, and command roles in the Nigerian Air Force.

He also led pioneering software development projects and contributed greatly to ICT advancement in military institutions. In recognition of his service, he received the National Productivity Order of Merit Award in 2009. After 34 years of distinguished service, he retired from the Nigerian Air Force in 2016. He then built a strong academic career at the National Defence College, University of Lagos, Covenant University, and Chrisland University. He is widely respected for his research, publications, awards, and lasting contributions to computer science and higher education.

MY ACADEMIC JOURNEY

  1. Began my education at St. George’s Primary School and completed secondary school at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria.
  2. Joined the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1980 and was enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force as a member of the Nigerian Defence Academy Regular Course 27
  3. I was Commissioned as a Pilot Officer and received engineering training in Electronics/Avionics.
  4. My quest for academic excellence continued at the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State. I earned a Diploma in Data Processing with Distinctionest.
  5. Earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the same university (University of Benin)
  6. Won the Commandant’s award at CSC Senior Course 21 and also earned an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Benin.
  7. Attended Management Training Course 21 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
  8. Obtained the highest degree of academic learning by earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of Benin.
  9. Held top engineering and production roles in the Nigerian Air Force and retired in 2016 after 34 years of service.
  10. I was at the World Congress on Engineering, Imperial College, London, between 4-6 July, 2018, where I delivered three papers on cloud computing
  11. In 2019, I earned an IBM AI award and served as a Senior Lecturer at Covenant University from 2016 to 2021.
  12. Joined Chrisland university and currently serve as the Head of Department, Computer Science & Applied Mathematics
